CONTROLLERS

For all those entering the Smash Wii U brackets this weekend, some important details regarding controllers.
1) Controllers are NOT provided at the venue; if you are participating, you must bring your own.
2) Wireless controllers of any kind are NOT permitted, including Wiimote, Nunchuck, Classic Controller, Nintendo 3DS/2DS and Wii U Gamepad.
3) Only the following controller types may be used:
– Nintendo GameCube Controller
– Wii U Pro Controller (Wired ONLY)*
*If you are using a Pro controller, you MUST remove the battery and bring your own USB charge cable in order to use it. You will NOT be permitted to sync it wireless to any of the consoles.

TICKETS

Anyone who wishes to gain entry to Celtic Throwdown must purchase a day/weekend pass. This allows entry to the event for spectating only. Competitors must, in adddition to their day/weekend pass, purchase a tournament entry pass for the game in which they wish to compete. TOURNAMENT PHASES

Celtic Throwdown 2017 will have record numbers at it this year. For the tournaments with more than 64 players, Qualification pools will produce a finals brackets. This will be either Top 16 or Top 8 depending on number of entrants. These brackets will be seeded equally according to the Road to Series and current CPT ranking. These seeded positions can only be awarded to players who purchase their tickets and register in advance. Any players showing up to Celtic Throwdown without a ticket will run the risk of being placed into a pool of Death.

QUALIFICATION POOLS

At the start of the tournament, players are divided into pools of eight or more people. The size of each pool depends on the overall size of the tournament. Each pool is run as a double elimination bracket, until there are only two players left. These top two players advance to the the Finals Bracket. Loses do carry forward for those on the losers side will enter on the losers side of the finals bracket.

TOURNAMENT FINALS

The Finals are held on Sunday, 4th September per the timetable. Losses carry over from pools. The Finals end when all but one player has been eliminated.

RULES

  • All games will be played on the default settings, unless otherwise specified, below.
  • All macros available via the in-game controller configuration menu are allowed.
  • Hardware programmable input entry, rapid-fire, or other hardware assisted mechanisms are strictly forbidden.
  • Accidentally pausing the game at any time during the fight will force you to forfeit the round.
  • Any player using “Random Select” to pick their character, must “Random Select” again if they win the match, provided that there is no way to pick a certain character in the random box.
  • You must provide your own controller for games played on all systems.
    • This is especially pertinent for legacy controllers. Please ensure you have everything needed for your controller to work, we cannot guarantee we will have supporting devices. We will endeavor to help but responsibility will lie with the player.
  • All converters are the responsibility of the player.
  • Cronus Max Plus and Titan One converters are banned.
  • All wireless controllers other than the DualShock4 and WiiU Pro Controller are banned.
  • DualShock4 players that don’t unpair their controller right after the match, are subject to disqualification.
  • Nintendo 3DS, 2DS, or WiiU gamepad are not allowed.
  • Removing the battery or otherwise disabling these controllers is NOT OK.  You may not use these controllers under any circumstances.
  • 3rd party controllers which pair to a dongle like the MadCatz controllers are fine.

 

STREET FIGHTER V

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 99 Seconds, 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games, No Handicap
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • All matches will be random stage select.

TEKKEN 7

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode,  3/5 Games, 99 Seconds
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • Winner must keep same character and variation.
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.

INJUSTICE 2

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode,  3/5 Games, 99 Seconds
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • Winner must keep same character and variation.
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.

MORTAL KOMBAT XL

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode,  3/5 Games, 99 Seconds
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • Winner must keep same character and variation.
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.

KING OF FIGHTERS 14

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode,  2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.

GUILTY GEAR XRD: REVELATOR

  • Game version: PlayStation 4
  • Game Settings: Versus Mode,  2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.

POKKEN TOURNAMENT

  • Game version: Nintendo WiiU
  • Game Settings: LAN Mode, Skill=Off, 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games, Stadium Only
  • Loser of last match may change fighter Pokemon
  • Both players may change assist sets and cheer type between matches

SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE

  • Game version: Nintendo Wii
  • Game Settings: 4 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, No Items, Pause Disabled, 2/3 Games
  • Starter stages: Yoshi’s Story, Fountain of Dreams, Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land.
  • Counter-pick stages: Pokemon Stadium.
  • Wobbling is legal. Freezing and infinite stalling are not legal.
  • First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
  • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
  • Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
  • Any matches that are best of five, there are no stage bans.
  • Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.
  • You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.

SUPER SMASH BROS FOR WIIU

  • Game version: Nintendo Wii U
  • Game Settings: 3 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, 2/3 Games, Custom Moves Off, Items Off, Equipment Off, Handicap Off, Pause Off, Damage Ratio 100%
  • Mii Fighters On (1-1-1-1 Default Miis)
  • Amiibos are banned.
  • Starter Stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Town & City, Dream Land 64
  • Counterpick Stages: Lylat Cruise, Duck Hunt
  • All Omega stages are banned.
  • First stage is decided by (Rock Paper Scissors) best of 1. Winner strikes, then loser strikes twice, then winner. (1-2-1)
  • Following stages decided by winner banning two stages from all stages and then loser choosing from remainder.
  • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
  • You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.
  • Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.
  • Sudden Death with a tied percentage/stock count will NOT determine the outcome of a tied game. A playoff match with 1 stock/2 minutes will determine the winner.
  • There will be no loading anything on to the tournament consoles.

ADDITIONAL RULES

  1. Event Organiser decisions are final
  2. This is a live streamed event and purchasing a ticket for the event, acknowledges the right for us to broadcast the event on Twitch.tv and youtube services with your presence. All rights are reserved by AsOne Productions
  3. This event does not have an age restriction however children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
    1. Alcohol will be available at this event as its location is a hotel. The hotel will be enforcing age restrictions on the serving of alcohol.
  4. AsOne Productions reserves the right of admission
  5. Team events are winning team takes all.
  6. Enjoyment of the weekend is recommended but not necessary.
  7. Salt shakers will not be provided and must be brought by the participant for the use of jovial jibbing of those who lose.
  8. No White Tracksuits
  9. Any unruly, violent or inappropriate conduct will result in immediate dismissal and removal from the event.
